Ge'ez Simple Adverbs

An Adverb modifies a verb, an adjective, another adverb or a preposition.

Ge’ez Adverbs might be stand at the beginning and ending of a sentence to qualify the whole sentence.

1.Adverbs of manner and state

This Adverbs answer the question of እፎ (ˈefo) – how ? and ዘ-ከመ እፎ (za-kama ˈefo) – in what manner ?

quickly ፍጡነ (feţuna)

badly – በእኩይ (ba-ekuy)

slowly – ክብደ (kebda)

suddenly – ግብተ (gebeta)

secretly – ጽሚተ (şemita)

openly – ክሡተ (kesuta)

quietly – በአርምሞ (ba-ˈarmemo)

completely – በኩሉ (ba-kulu)

foolishly – በእበድ (ba-ˈebad)

hard – ጽኑዐ (şenuˈa)

carefully – ጥንቁቀ (țenquqa)

fast – በጉጒኣ (ba-gugwuˈ ā)

safely – በሰላም (ba-salām)

truly – ርቱዐ (retuˈa)

bravely – በለብዎ (ba-labewo)

2. Adverbs of place

This Adverbs answer the question “where” – አይቴ (ˈayte)

backward – ድኅረ (dexera)

forward – ቅድመ (qedema)

across – ማዕዶተ (māedota)

below – ታሕተ (tāhta)

outside – አፍኣ (ˈafeˈ ā)

within – በማዕከለ (ba-māˈekala)

here – ዝየ (zeya)

there – ህየ (heya)

everywhere – በኲለሄ (ba-kwulahe)

in – ውስተ (westa)

out of – እምነ (ˈemena)

up – ላዕለ (lāˈela)

down- ታሕተ (tāhta)

inside – ውስጠ (wesţa)

far – ርኁቀ (rexuqa)

near – ቅሩበ (qeruba)

under – በመትሕተ (ba-matehta)

on the – በላዕለ (ba-lāˈela)

3.Adverbs of time "when"-ማእዜ (māˈezē)

These Adverbs answer the question “when” – ማእዜ (māˈezē)

immediately – በጊዜሁ (ba-gizehu)

formerly – እንዘ ቀዲሙ (ˈenza qadimu)

after – ድኅረ (dexera)

instantly – በቅጽበት (ba-qsbat)

after wards – ወእምድኅረ (wa-em-dexra)

yesterday – ትማልም (temālem)

early – በጽባሕ (ba-şebāĥ)

before – ቅድመ (qedema)

now – ናሁ (nāhu)

still – ዓዲሁ (ˈadihu)

3.1 Adverbs of time "How often" እስከ ማእዜኑ ( ˈeska māˈezēnu )

These Adverbs answer the question “how often” – እስከ ማእዜኑ (eska maezenu)

always – ወትረ (watera)

seldom – ጉንዱየ (gunduya)

frequently – ብዙኀ (bezuxa)

twice – ዳግመ (dāgma)

once – ምዕረ (meˈera)

again – ወካዕበ (wa-kāˈeba)

three times – ሥልሰ ጊዜያተ (selsa gizēyāta)

4.Adverbs of degree, quantity and extent

only – ባሕቲቶ (bāĥetito)

partly – ክፍለ (kefela)

haif – መንፈቀ (manfaqa)

fully – ፍጹመ (fesuma)

extermely – ፈድፋደ (fadfada)
